Frequently Asked Questions
If your question is not answered here please email us. We are always happy to provide free advice.
How far ahead can I book?
Usually up to sixty days ahead, but it
can be less at certain times of the year when timetable changes are
imminent. To avoid any ticket availability issues, particularly for larger
parties, we recommend booking as far in advance as possible. If tickets for
your travel date are not yet available you can register by clicking
here and we will let you know as soon as
they go on sale.
Is there a discount for children or seniors?
Children under four years of age (i.e. 0-3 years)
travel free of charge. However if the train is crowded they will be expected
to share a seat with an adult if needed so that another fare paying
passenger can sit down. There are no other discounts or concessions for
older children or seniors.
Why is your ticket price so much lower
than other suppliers I have seen?
One important point to note is that the tickets
you buy through us are not flexible. They cannot be cancelled, changed or
upgraded if your travel plans change. We recommend our customers take out a
good travel insurance policy as a protection against unforeseen
circumstances.
Other suppliers may be selling flexible tickets that are not limited to a
specific train or which offer a refund of 85 or 100% of the ticket price in
case of cancellation. Naturally you pay more for this degree of flexibility.
Where can I buy a flexible ticket?
If you think you might change your mind and you
don't mind paying more for your ticket in order to keep your options open we
can recommend an
alternate
supplier.
How long will it take to process my
order?
We aim to process all orders within one business
day.
If you have not heard from us within this timeframe please check
your spam or junk mail folder for messages before contacting us.
How will you send me my tickets?
We will email your tickets in Adobe PDF format. You
will need to download Adobe Reader
if you do not already have it and access to a printer. Tickets should be
printed single sided on A4 paper or shrunk to fit on US letter paper.
Can I collect my
tickets at the station?
No, there is no facility to collect tickets booked through us at the
station. We will email you your tickets in Adobe PDF format. You need to
print out the tickets at home before you travel.
Why do you need my passport number?
The electronic tickets we issue are non-transferable and are only valid when presented by the named individual along
with matching ID. When we issue your ticket we have to show your name and
passport number in the top right hand corner and this is why we
ask for this information.
How do you protect my credit or debit card
details?
Your credit or debit card details are handled
by our specialist payment provider, Netbanx. Czech Railway Tickets.com
receives your payment but does
not have direct access to your card details.
My travel plans have changed and I no
longer need my ticket. Can I get a refund?
No. The tickets you buy through us are
not refundable. We recommend you take out a good travel insurance policy to
cover you in case your plans change as a result of travel disruption or a
personal emergency.
Can I change the date or time on my ticket?
No. Once issued your ticket is valid only on the specific date, time and
train shown. No changes or refunds are possible. Please take care when
making your booking.
Can I change the name on my ticket?
No. Once issued your ticket is only valid for the individual named on the
ticket when presented on board the train with matching ID. No changes or
refunds are possible. Please take care when making your booking.
Can I upgrade my second class ticket to first
class?
No. The details on your ticket, including the
travel class, are fixed once your ticket has been issued and cannot be
changed. The ticket is also non-exchangeable and non-refundable, so
unfortunately there is no way to upgrade a 2nd class ticket to 1st
class.
How do I get to Prague Station?
The main station in
Prague, known as hlavní nádraží, is located on Wilsonova Street about one
third of a mile or five minutes walk from the top of Wenceslas Square. There
is a map at the bottom of our
homepage.
The station can be reached by metro line C (the red line), tram lines 5, 9
or 26, night trams 55 or 58 and bus lines 504, 505, 511 or AE. The Airport
Express bus ('AE') connects the railway station with Prague Airport every 30
minutes. Click
here for a
public transport map of Prague.
For passengers travelling with a lot of luggage we recommend AAA Radiotaxi
who have English speaking operators on telephone +420 222 333 222.
How early should we get to the
station?
Arriving 20-30 minutes before departure will give
you plenty of time to get your bearings and find the right platform. Some
trains begin their journey in Prague or make an extended stop there and may
be ready to board 10-20 minutes before their scheduled departure time. The
station has a range of retail shops including a good bookshop, pub and
takeaway food outlets.
Do I need to call in at the station booking
office?
No. Buying through us means you bypass the queues
at the station completely. Simply print your electronic ticket at home and
board the train. Remember to bring your passport.
What is the check-in procedure at
Prague station?
Unlike airports or Eurostar there is no check-in,
security or passport control at the station. You simply board your train and
go.
How do Adobe PDF format tickets work?
The Adobe PDF format tickets you purchase through
us are issued by the rail operator. Each ticket has a unique 'control code'
which is shown on the ticket as a four digit number and in barcode form. The
conductor on board the train compares the railway operator's records with
the control code on your ticket to confirm its validity. The ticket also
shows your name and passport number and they check this against your ID to
ensure you are the owner of the ticket. All you need to do is print out your
ticket at home before you travel and present it with matching ID on board
the train.
